Omschrijving

On Monday, November 25th, we have our next evening session, this time in collaboration with the Dutch Fabric User Group at KPMG in Amstelveen.

When two user groups share the same goal, collaboration is key! The Power BI Gebruikersgroep and the Dutch Fabric User Group each have their own audience but operate within the same Microsoft ecosystem. With Microsoft Fabric bringing everything together on one platform, this is a perfect opportunity to strengthen each other. That's why we're organizing a special event together: Meetup XXL!

On November 25th, the Power BI Gebruikersgroep (PBIG) and the Dutch Fabric User Group (DFUG) will come together for an Ignite Recap meetup, hosted by KPMG in Amstelveen. During this event, we will discuss the latest news from Microsoft's annual Ignite conference, which took place a week earlier in Chicago. We are excited that Benni and Kasper from the Microsoft Fabric CAT team will be joining us to share the key announcements and updates, along with community sessions from Oskari Heikinnen from Finland on 'Best Practices for Fabric Eventhouse' in RealTime Intelligence, and Marnix Jansen showing how to use the International Business Communication Standards (IBCS) to design Power BI reports that drive action.

Join us for an evening filled with insights, announcements, and the opportunity to connect with peers. We will start at 5:00 PM with a welcome, including a meal and drinks. We look forward to seeing you there!

Oskari Heikkinen: Best Practices for Fabric Eventhouse

Eventhouse is a distributed query processing technology in Microsoft Fabric. In this session, we will deep dive into the relevant technical details to understand how it delivers the incredible performance. The session will build on that information and also deliver the Best Practices. Demos are included to show how some of the Best Practices can be implemented.

This talk is intended for architects and developers. Join this session to ensure you're using the technology in an optimal way or to avoid the common pitfalls if you're just getting started.

Marnix Jansen: The Science of Effective Business Reporting: Using IBCS Standards to Drive Action

The ultimate goal of a Power BI report is not just to provide insights but to drive action. In this session, we’ll explore how the International Business Communication Standards (IBCS) offer a scientifically grounded approach to designing business reports that do just that.

Based on cognitive science and visual perception theory, IBCS provides a proven framework for creating reports that are not only clear and consistent but also actionable. By applying these principles to your Power BI reports, you’ll learn how to reduce ambiguity, enhance clarity, and guide stakeholders toward decisive actions.

We’ll dive into practical examples of how standardized notations and message-driven visuals can improve comprehension and support business decisions. Whether you're a data analyst, BI developer, or business professional, this session will empower you to transform your reporting process from mere data presentation to action-oriented communication.

This presentation will be in English.
